“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
As a Constitutional conservative, Elise has proudly taken the oath of office to uphold the Constitution in her four terms representing New York’s 21st Congressional District. She is a strong 2nd Amendment supporter, and has earned an A+ rating from the NRA for her commitment to upholding the Constitution. She has introduced legislation to overturn the unconstitutional New York SAFE Act and has worked to pass the Concealed-Carry Reciprocity Act and the Fix NICS Act to protect the Constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens while keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals.
Elise has led the charge against President Joe Biden and New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s unconstitutional mandates. She has advocated to reverse authoritarian orders from the Biden administration, and has called for accountability from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on unscientific mask requirements for K-12 students. Elise continues to stand with freedom-loving patriots across the North Country against overreaches of power that are eroding our civil liberties and crushing small businesses and our economy.
- As a Member of the Election Integrity Caucus, Elise will always stand up for election security and ballot integrity on behalf of the American people. After the 2020 election, she objected to certain electors from contested states due to unconstitutional overreach with unelected bureaucrats unilaterally and illegally rewriting election law.
- In response to Elise’s effective questioning of then-FBI Director James Comey at a Congressional hearing in 2017, the House included language from Elise’s Counterintelligence Accountability Act into the Intelligence Authorization Act. This law prevents the FBI from circumventing Congress and unilaterally conducting investigations without proper congressional oversight.
Elise also defended the United States Constitution and asked questions important to the American people during the unconstitutional impeachment hearings against President Donald J. Trump. She stood up for truth, the Constitution, and the American people and was hailed as one of the most effective Members of Congress to call out House Democrats for grossly abusing their political power during the broken, partisan impeachment sham.
