SARATOGA, NY — In case you missed it, House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik joined WTEN News Albany to discuss the state of the Presidential election, President Trump’s positive gains in all of the key battleground districts, and the historic inroads he has made in New York State which will help grow the House Republican Majority, and flip the US Senate. |
WATCH CHAIRWOMAN STEFANIK’S FULL INTERVIEW HERE View highlights from the interview below. On the Importance of the Upcoming Election: “We are very focused on getting all of our voters out. Early voting starts October 26 in the state of New York, and of course, I’m running on my record of real results for the hard working families, small businesses, farms, veterans, law enforcement. This is the most important election in our lifetime at the presidential level, and, of course, the congressional level and Senate level as well. I’m proud to be a top surrogate for President Trump. I was the first member of Congress who endorsed him right when he announced his campaign to run in 2024 and I’m cautiously optimistic that he’s going to get this done and win this election cycle. But we cannot take it for granted, and can’t be complacent.” … “I never take anything for granted. I’ve been crisscrossing my district. I was proud to be at home in Saratoga, we celebrated Saratoga siege weekend, of course, commemorating the battles of Saratoga, the turning point of the turning point of the American Revolution. I was in Washington County just this past week, and I’ll be in Herkimer County this week, Lewis County [next week]. I was in Clinton and Franklin County. So I’ve been all over my district, as I always am, doing thousands of events representing this district. You’re right that New York is the battleground. If you look at these other seats in New York State, Democrats are spending 100 million to try to buy these seats, and that’s because New York delivered the House Republican majority last cycle, which I was proud to lead that effort. We flipped five seats, and that fired Nancy Pelosi once and for all and allowed the Republicans to be in the majority. Marc Molinaro is a known, effective fighter on behalf of his constituents in the Hudson Valley region, and that is a very important election. Vote for Marc, he has delivered significant results. His opponent, Josh Riley, literally is the legal architect for Joe Biden’s open border policies. And the border crisis is right here in New York. We function as a sanctuary state. Illegals have committed heinous crimes against New York American citizens, and we need to make sure that we have Republicans in Congress who will secure the border and get rid of these sanctuary state, sanctuary city policies that have run rampant in New York.” … “Well, if you look at 2016 and 2020 the last times that President Trump was on the ballot, we actually picked up House seats. So I’ve been a believer, and one of the strongest voices that Trump is a net positive for all Republicans up and down the ballot, and that includes our House races. An interesting stat is Kamala Harris is underperforming Joe Biden in every single house seat, not just in New York, but across the country. She’s underperforming Joe Biden in 2020. And that means that we have an opportunity, not only to hold this Republican majority, but to grow it. As we know John, previously, the polls have been way off, particularly when it comes to polling President Trump’s support in Trump election years, and that is one of those years when the momentum is on his side. So I am optimistic, although cautiously so, because I never take it for granted, we have to earn every vote, which we will. We will run through the tape. But I think if President Trump wins, which I think he’s going to he’s going to earn this victory. I think he’s going to make significant inroads in New York, and we will hold these districts. We could potentially pick up a Hudson Valley seat in Alison Esposito, the former Lieutenant Governor candidate, and then certainly we’re going to flip the Senate, we, of course, will win West Virginia. It looks like Montana is falling our way, but so are some of these other key Senate battlegrounds like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arizona, and Nevada. So we’re very focused. Obviously, President Trump needs to have a House Republican majority and a Republican Senate to get his agenda done.” On Her Longstanding Support of President Donald J. Trump: “Listen, I voted for President Trump in 2016 and I was smeared for doing so, if you will, remember, the Democrats ran hundreds of 1000s of attack ads against me, claiming and stating that I was the only elected Republican at the federal level from the Northeast who voted for President Donald Trump. I was proud to do so. I was proud to work with him, to host him in my district, to sign the National Defense Bill at Fort Drum, and my district is overwhelmingly going to vote for President Trump again, even by a larger margin than they did in 2020. You drive around the Adirondacks, drive around the North Country, you see more Trump signs than ever before, because people are feeling the brunt of the crises that Kamala Harris has created, whether it’s the border crisis, which is felt firsthand along our northern border region, where you have a skyrocketing of illegals crossing the Swanton sector. I was just up there talking to property owners and small businesses about how it was impacting their lives. And then, of course, the economy, you have historic inflation. That’s the number one issue. Number one or number two based or the border based upon who you’re talking to. People are struggling under the failed economic policies of Kamala Harris versus the economic strength we had under President Trump, with historic wage and salary growth. So, people understand the issues that are at hand this election cycle. We cannot take this win for granted. We have to get this done. So that’s why turning out every vote is important.” On Far Left Democrat’s Misleading Voters on the Dangers of Proposition One: “Prop one is definitely Democrats attempt to try to mislead voters. The Democrats are falsely claiming this is an Equal Rights Amendment. It is not. If you look at the language of Proposition one, it opens the door to more taxpayer funds to illegals. It actually opens the door to illegals being able to vote in New York elections, which, of course, is unconstitutional. And I have challenged Democrats efforts to do that, and we’ve beaten them in the courts in the past, and it also would allow men and boys to participate in biological women and girls’ sports. And look, I grew up playing sports. It is important to provide those opportunities for young girls and women, but we need to make sure that our young girls and women are safe, and we don’t allow biological boys to compete on the sports teams or go into girls bathrooms. So all of these issues are on the on Proposition one. So turn over your ballot. Vote no on prop one!” On Disgraced Former House GOP Chair Liz Cheney Campaigning with Kamala Harris: “You know, President Trump is running a historic campaign. He is winning independents, he is winning Republicans, and he is winning a fair percentage of Democrats. This is about putting America first, and whatever my predecessor, who I defeated in the leadership race and replaced as the House Republican conference chair, is supporting Kamala Harris, who is wants to raise taxes, wants to ban our Second Amendment. Wants to really take un American positions. We need to do everything we can to ensure that we win and elect President Trump this November.” On Kamala Harris’ Appointment to the Democratic Nomination for President: “There was not a single vote cast for Kamala Harris. In 2020, when she ran, and this cycle, Democrats anointed her, and even Jim Gaffigan, a Hollywood Democrat comedian, made the statement at the Al Smith dinner that it was Democrats who mounted a coup by replacing Joe Biden without a single vote being cast. … We are a constitutional Republic. Our votes matter. And the fact that they made that switch, it is coming full circle, as she is not having the support that Joe Biden did, and it bears very poorly for Democrats on the ballot who own her as a candidate.” |
