SARATOGA, N.Y. – House GOP Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik released the following statement on Hochul’s hypocrisy: “The Worst Governor in America Kathy Hochul is once again a hypocritical fraud. Earlier this year, Hochul heaped public praise on Chuck Schumer for working with Republicans to keep the government open. Now, Hochul flip flopped to backing Schumer’s vote to oppose government funding. NY Democrats aided and abetted by Kathy Hochul caused this government shutdown hurting New Yorkers. Why the flip flopped? Because Hochul has bent her knee to Commie Mamdani and sold her political soul to the radical Far Left of her party, she is forcing a government shutdown because she wants illegal immigrants to get health care paid for by New York taxpayers. This is a disturbing pattern of Hochul the Hypocrite playing politics to desperately save herself while putting New Yorkers last.” Background: Below are the damning receipts of a series interviews just six months ago where the Worst Governor in America Kathy Hochul praised Senator Chuck Schumer for voting for the Continuing Resolution funding bill to keep the federal government open. This is the same bill that Schumer and Kathy Hochul now oppose. NY Democrats opposition to government funding has caused the government shutdown. CNY Central: Governor Kathy Hochul backs Sen. Chuck Schumer amid tension within the Democratic party March 19, 2025 AMNA NAWAZ: I need to ask you too about the Democratic Party, because it’s been a rough few weeks. You have seen the leader of your party in the Senate under fire from fellow Democrats, including your fellow New Yorkers, Hakeem Jeffries and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for choosing to avoid a government shutdown and back a Republican funding bill. In your view, was that the right choice? GOV. KATHY HOCHUL: I know that Senator Schumer has New York state’s best interest at heart, because he’s also not just the major leader for the Senate, but also our state. He has delivered time and time again for New Yorkers. AMNA NAWAZ: Governor, there’s clearly a divide within your party, though, on this one issue. Was it the right choice for Senator Schumer to vote for that bill? GOV. KATHY HOCHUL: Listen, I’m focused on New York state here. I spent time in Congress. I would answer questions on federal issues when it came to that. He made a decision that he thought was best, not to have the shutdown. Others disagree with that. I’m focused on making sure that New York can get through this tumultuous time, whatever happens, and agree that a shutdown would have been difficult for our state. |
