New Yorkers are expected to save almost $4,000 through President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” tax cuts in 2026, a new analysis by the Tax Foundation shows.

The nonprofit think tank provided tax cut estimates for each U.S. state and their counties by using conventional revenue estimates at the national level generated by their General Equilibrium Model and data from the IRS’ Statistics of Income for individual tax returns in 2022.

Here’s what to know.

What does Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” entail?

The “Big Beautiful Bill,” passed in July, “makes the most significant legislative changes to federal tax policy since the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” according to the Tax Foundation.

The extension of those tax cuts will cost about $3.7 trillion over the next 10 years, USA TODAY reported. Other cuts include around $1.3 trillion in health care and food programs, including $1 trillion in estimated Medicaid cuts and an estimated $300 billion in Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program cuts.

Americans in high-tax states like New York will get a bigger income tax deduction for state and local taxes, or SALT, through 2028, the child tax credit will be increased and defense and border security spending will increase by a combined $303 billion, according to USA TODAY.

How big will New York’s tax cuts be?

States that will see the largest average tax cuts in 2026 are Wyoming ($5,375), Washington ($5,372) and Massachusetts ($5,139), according to the Tax Foundation. West Virginia and Mississippi are expected to see the smallest in 2026 at $2,503 and $2,401, respectively.
