On Advancing President Trump’s America First Agenda:

“Well, first of all, it’s House Republicans’ responsibility to deliver the hallmark of President Trump’s agenda, where he won a historic popular vote. We know the stakes are incredibly high, and we are committed to getting this done. And this one big, beautiful bill, it includes so many important provisions, unleashing American energy independence, continuation of the historic Trump tax cuts, and also adding no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security, as well as lifting the state and local tax the salt deduction for high tax states like New York, where people are struggling to make and make ends meet, these are commitments President Trump and Republicans made, and we are committed to getting it done. We’re also very focused on fiscal savings. The fact of the matter is, is that under Joe Biden, it has been rampant waste, fraud, and abuse of US taxpayer dollars. So we are committed to a fiscally responsible pro-growth bill that also secures our borders. We are going to work to get this done.”

On Fighting for New Yorkers in Washington:

“But the reality is, Maria, this was a commitment President Trump made on the campaign trail. This is a commitment many of our House Republicans made, so we’re in the midst of negotiating that. And I represent New Yorkers. This has been a key issue that we have worked on for a number of years, and we’re working in the New York Republican delegation, as well as my colleagues in House Republican leadership, to get this done. And the reality is, with this slim majority, we understand it’s important to relieve taxes for all Americans across this country. And what’s interesting, Maria, is if you look in New York, no state moved more to the Republican direction than New York State in terms of President Trump’s historic support that he earned from voters in New York. And you are sure that the Republican governor of New York, and I’m honored to be considering that. I’m honored to be the outpouring of support we’ve heard. We will certainly lower taxes so that we are no longer the highest-taxed state in the nation.”

On Kathy Hochul’s Abysmal Record and Approval Ratings:

“Well, absolutely, I am strongly considering because look at the crises that Kathy Hochul and single-party Democrat rule have delivered to New Yorkers, and this has been over the period of decades. We have an economic crisis and an affordability crisis. If you look, we are the highest-taxed state in the nation. We lead the nation in out migration, who people who are leaving the state because it’s so unaffordable. We are also the most anti-energy state in the country. You have a ban on fracking. And you go over the border, when you look at the southern tier, where there’s such economic malaise and despair, you go to Pennsylvania, and you see a boom in these small towns. In addition, you have a sanctuary city pro-illegal policies in New York State, where they prioritize illegals under Democrats, rather than law-abiding New Yorkers. And then, of course, Maria, you have the crime crisis. And this is a result of Kathy Hochul’s failed bail reform, where they turned their backs on hardworking law enforcement officers. They prioritized the criminals to the point that they’re even releasing criminals onto our streets, releasing illegals onto our streets. So New Yorkers, not just Republicans, but Independents and Democrats as well, are yearning for a new generation of leadership to bring common sense back to our state. So absolutely, I’m taking a hard look at it, and the outpouring of support has been tremendous. And Kathy Hochul is the worst governor in America. I dubbed that of Andrew Cuomo, not thinking anybody could make it worse. Kathy Hochul makes the impossible possible. She is the worst governor, and it’s showing in her poor, abysmal approval ratings.”

On Leading the Effort to End Anti-Semitism on ‘Elite’ University Campuses:

“100% President Trump did the right thing. This is an issue that I have been the leader on in the house, and it takes a strong president to deliver zero tolerance when it comes to anti-Semitism. And the reality is, if you look at the report that Harvard released from its task force, this is a systematic issue that has happened, not just since October 7, but over decades at Harvard, whether it’s the curricula, whether it’s the professors, or whether it’s the university’s failure to enforce the rules so President Trump absolutely is taking the correct action, and not all schools are making the same choice as Harvard. There are other schools that are considered in the elite, elite schools category that do have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to not allowing anti-Semitism. Columbia, I put on the bad list with Harvard, and we continue to support President Trump’s efforts, but the governor of New York, bring this back to New York, Maria Kathy Hochul, has failed to protect not just Jewish students, but Jewish families. In the state of New York, there is anti-Semitism raging in our streets, and there needs to be a zero tolerance policy from the governor of New York, like there is from the president United States.”
