WASHINGTON (WWNY) – Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday he is directing a House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden over his family’s business dealings.
And his fellow Republicans, Elise Stefanik and Claudia Tenney, who together represent Jefferson, St. Lawrence, and Lewis counties — and other parts of the state — are 100% behind the move.
McCarthy said the House investigation has found a “culture of corruption” around the Biden family.
Stefanik said in a statement she believes it will prove to be “the biggest political corruption and criminal scandal in our nation’s history.”
In her statement, Tenney says evidence Republicans have show the president is “beyond compromised.”
Here is Stefanik’s statement:
“Through the course of our Constitutional oversight duties, House Republicans have uncovered substantial evidence showing that Joe Biden has potentially committed multiple impeachable offenses. Since July, I have supported Speaker McCarthy’s consideration of an impeachment inquiry to ensure the House is at the apex of our Constitutional power, allowing us to uncover the facts on behalf of the American people. Transparency is a hallmark of our Constitutional Republic, and I am committed to ensuring that we uncover the truth about what I believe will prove to be the biggest political corruption and criminal scandal in our nation’s history.”
Tenney’s statement follows:
“In spite of interference by the Department of Justice, which slow-walked and covered up the investigations into the Biden Crime Family, House Republicans have extensive evidence that the President is beyond compromised,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “We have uncovered evidence revealing the Biden Families’ crimes and corruption, including previously undisclosed multi-million dollar payments from Ukraine, Romania, and China to the President’s family and likely the President himself. It is unacceptable that the President is making policy decisions based on self-interest and also enriching himself and his family at the expense of the American people. House Republicans are moving forward to responsibly investigate the President’s alleged crimes with an impeachment inquiry. On behalf of my constituents and every American, I remain committed to holding the Biden Crime Family accountable.”
