WASHINGTON, D.C. | As Plattsburgh International Airport gears up for massive repairs to its runway, it has been awarded nearly $800,000 for further rehabilitation and restoration work.
The runway repairs have progressed in planning for several months and are now slated to begin April 13.
Those repairs will run through June 22, resulting in the temporary suspension of all incoming and outgoing flights.
The new funding, announced March 30, will now be used to rehabilitate the taxiway with $315,000 of the funds slated for the construction of a deicing pad for a runway and terminal.
U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik announced the new federal grants- totaling $765,000-and said those funds will help the facility continue its structural improvements and essential services.
“Plattsburgh International Airport allows North Country residents the ability to conveniently travel, and I have long advocated for additional funding and resources to continue its essential flight services,” Stefanik said in a statement.
“I am proud that nearly $1 million dollars in taxpayer dollars will return to the airport for important construction projects and maintenance.”
