Saratoga: Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo has endorsed Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for re-election, citing her commitment to funding police departments and opposition to Cuomo’s failed bail reform policy.

“I’m proud to endorse Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for re-election to Congress,” said Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo. “Elise proudly Backs the Blue and supports our law enforcement in Saratoga County and all across the North Country. She stands up to those who want to defund the police, like her opponent Tedra Cobb, and instead advocates for increased resources for our officers. She works to secure funding for mental health resources for our officers who are struggling with PTSD and support for the families of deceased law enforcement officers. She is our true fighter and advocate and we are lucky to have her representing us.

“I have a great working relationship with Elise and was proud to participate in a roundtable with her earlier this year to discuss the need for increased mental health resources for our officers as well as our opposition to Governor Cuomo’s misguided and failed bail reform which released violent criminals into our communities. This policy both made our communities less safe and the jobs of our law enforcement more difficult. Elise took a strong stand against Cuomo’s bail reform and I’m incredibly grateful for her advocacy. Elise Stefanik is proud to Back the Blue and I’m proud to endorse her.”

“I have deep respect for Sheriff Zurlo and all of our law enforcement officers across the North Country,” said Stefanik. “They put their lives on the line to protect our communities and are dedicated to keeping our families safe. I am honored to work on behalf of our law enforcement in Congress to ensure they have the mental health and safety resources they need and deserve. I will always defend our police, and will never support defunding them like my Far-Left opponent. I’m grateful to Sheriff Zurlo for his endorsement and will always Back the Blue!”
