By Chairwoman Elise Stefanik

As Fort Drum’s chief advocate in Congress for the past decade, my top priority has always been to deliver results for the 10th Mountain Division, military families, and the North Country community that supports them. With the passage of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), I am proud to report that I secured historic wins that will strengthen Fort Drum, support our servicemembers, and ensure Upstate New York and the North Country remain at the center of America’s national defense.

This year’s NDAA authorizes more than $22 million in additional funding directly for Fort Drum and the North Country. These resources will enhance Fort Drum’s role as a leader in Army modernization by advancing next-generation weapons systems and counter-drone technology to keep our soldiers safe. It also invests in Fort Drum’s new mission as home to the Army’s 2nd Multi-Domain Task Force, ensuring our soldiers are equipped with the cutting-edge capabilities needed to confront today’s most dangerous threats.

Just as important, this NDAA takes care of military families here at home. It delivers a well-earned 3.8% pay raise for our men and women in uniform, secures robust funding for Fort Drum schools, and expands access to childcare, housing, and educational support for military families. These provisions are real, tangible improvements that strengthen the quality of life for the entire Fort Drum community.

The North Country is proud to serve as the home of the most deployed division in the U.S. Army. With these wins, we are ensuring the 10th Mountain Division remains ready to meet any challenge while their families receive the support they deserve.

I will never stop fighting for Fort Drum, the 10th Mountain Division, and the North Country. As your representative, I will always be their strongest voice in Washington and remain committed to ensuring our servicemembers and their families have the tools, resources, and support they need to keep our country safe.
