Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., weighed in on the classified document scandal concerning Joe Biden on Tuesday, vowing that the Republicans in the House of Representatives who formed a new committee to investigate the weaponization of the federal government will seek accountability.
In an official statement, Rep. Stefanik said:
“The fact that former Vice President Joe Biden inappropriately maintained and kept classified materials at his unsecured think tank raises serious questions about national security, particularly when the documents were related to Ukraine when Biden family members were on a Ukrainian oligarch’s payroll. The President has declassification authority, not the then Vice President. It is troubling that these documents were turned over to the National Archives on November 2nd, right before the midterm elections, and the corrupt Biden DOJ covered it up for two months. It is no wonder the American people do not trust the DOJ and FBI, who have targeted Joe Biden’s political opponents. This is exactly why House Republicans formed a new select committee to investigate the weaponization of the DOJ and why we will hold them accountable.”
Stefanik’s statement comes shortly after White House documents were found at the Penn Biden Center on Nov. 2, 2022, which included allegedly classified material, as reported by RSBN. The documents were reportedly taken by Biden when he was vice president.
President Donald Trump smacked down the double standard in the former vice president’s behavior, noting that Biden did not have the authority to declassify documents. “Also, a V.P. cannot declassify documents, which are covered by the Federal Records Act, which is criminal and much tougher than the Presidential Records Act, which is not criminal,” he wrote on Truth Social.
According to Life News, the House passed a resolution to form “The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government” on Tuesday with a 221-211 vote. The committee will be chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio.
