PLATTSBURGH | The House Appropriations Package for Fiscal Year 2022, which included $1.5 billion in discretionary spending, passed the House of Representatives this week.
The package, which includes $1 million for the Clinton County Business Readiness Program, was supported by U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (Schuylerville-R) and passed the House March 9.
“Clinton County is immensely grateful for the advocacy by Congresswoman Stefanik to secure this critical funding,” said Mark Henry, Chairman of the Clinton County Legislature.
“The County has secured prospective manufacturing tenants for a former USAF building, however, their tenancy is contingent upon the County’s ability to renovate the space. This aid will allow the County to make the necessary repairs and renovations which will inevitably lead to job creation for the region. We applaud the Congresswoman for her efforts and we look forward to its passage in the Senate.”
Stefanik said she was “proud to secure these funds through the appropriations process and deliver this result for Clinton County.
“Now, $1 million taxpayer dollars will return to our district to transform the old Plattsburgh Air Force base and attract new business to our district, creating several jobs in the process. This is great news for Clinton County, and I will always work to bring the priorities of New York’s 21st District to the highest level.”
The House Appropriations bill will now move to the U.S. Senate. A vote is expected on the bill by the end of the week.
