WASHINGTON, D.C. | U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik voted Oct. 27 to advance legislation that would support federal law enforcement and bring accused killers of federal officers to the U.S. for prosecution.

“Our law enforcement, including our border patrol agents, put their lives on the line for our safety,” Stefanik said.

“Officers that give their lives to protect us should be granted the same justice they would receive while providing for our safety on U.S. soil. No one should take harming a U.S. federal agent lightly, and I am proud to stand with our law enforcement to ensure those who seek them harm be brought to justice.”

The Jaime Zapata and Victor Avila Federal Law Enforcement Protection Act would ensure individuals who have killed or attempted to kill U.S. federal officers and employees serving abroad can be brought to justice and prosecuted in the United States.
