Saratoga: Today, Elise for Congress announced endorsements from 154 North Country family farms and local agribusinesses. These critical endorsements reflect the campaign’s strong, bipartisan support from farmers across the district due to Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s leadership on agriculture issues in Congress, including passing the Farm Bill and the USMCA which provided critical support for our dairy farmers and agribusinesses throughout our region.

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of each of these 154 family farms and agribusinesses across the North Country,” said Stefanik. “I’ve worked hard to deliver results to our agriculture community and am proud to have secured critical wins for our district in the 2018 Farm Bill. I’ve worked to support our dairy farmers by ensuring imitation dairy producers cannot label their products as dairy and securing an expanded dairy market through the USMCA. I was also proud to cosponsor and pass the Workforce Modernization Act to address the labor shortages that have threatened our local family farms. In the last few months, I have remained in constant contact with our farmers and agribusinesses to address their specific needs and make sure they were eligible to receive federal funding to support them throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the market disruptions they have faced. North Country family farms and agribusinesses know that I am the only candidate in this race who understands the significance of our ag sector in our communities and who will work effectively at the federal level to deliver real results for them. I’m proud to have their support.”

“As a sixth generation dairy farmer, I have had the privilege of getting to know Elise very well since her first term in Congress,” said Bill Peck, Welcome Stock Farm. “She has visited my farm multiple times, always making sure to interact with the members of our team and hear our concerns. We appreciate her advocacy on important issues like trade, ag labor, and regulation that have significant impacts on farmers in upstate NY. During the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Elise has worked diligently on behalf of farmers to make sure that we were eligible for important SBA programs and support from USDA. I know that when I have an issue that needs to be addressed, Elise and her office work swiftly to get things done. She truly has the best interests of her farmer constituents in mind, and I am proud to be endorsing her for re-election.”

“Our Multi-generational Farm Business is proud to support Congresswoman Stefanik for reelection to Congress,” said Ron Robbins, North Harbor Dairy. “During her tenure in Congress, she has been a staunch advocate for agriculture, working to reduce regulations, solving labor needs and addressing trade issues. During these past several months, she was quick to make sure dairy industry needs were addressed in the first round of Covid Stimulus and that farms were eligible for the Paycheck Protection program. We look forward to having her represent us for another term.”

“Upstate New York dairy farmers face many unique and important challenges and with COVID those have only become more difficult to manage,” said Neal Rea, Reafield Farm. “Elise understands these challenges, listens to our needs and delivers key relief and results like leading the effort to make farms eligible for the disaster relief loans, expanding the milk donation program that has been popular in towns across the North Country, and working to protect our dairy industry from unfairly labeled products. Farmers across our district know Elise has our backs, especially when the going gets tough, and we are grateful to have such an accessible and diligent advocate in Washington.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Elise personally for many years, and I know for a fact that supporting farmers and the ag sector in the North Country has always been a priority of hers,” said Jon Greenwood, a dairy farmer from Canton. “Elise has worked diligently on many issues important to the farm community, whether it was ag labor, trade, environmental priorities, or working with USDA on important programs. Elise successfully worked with President Trump as he negotiated the USMCA that will allow farmers to have more international market access and stabilize prices. I am proud to endorse Elise and look forward to continuing to work with her on a number of ag priorities. Thank you, Elise!”

“Elise is a strong supporter of all farms – all types and all sizes,” said Shaun Gillilland, Owner of Ben Weaver Farm in Willsboro. “Farmers know that we can reach out to Elise and her office and we can find assistance at any time for any reason. She truly realizes that Agriculture is the backbone of the North Country economy. She clearly puts the interest’s farms, farmers, and the production of food as one of her top priorities in DC. As a small livestock farmer, I am proud to support Elise Stefanik.”
