Saratoga: Taxin’ Tedra Cobb doubles down on her decision to cowardly back out of the only district-wide televised debate with Spectrum News. The Spectrum News debate is the most watched debate that happens every cycle, with viewership in all three media markets in the North Country. Spectrum News is the only debate to air in the Albany media market which includes the largest percentage of voters in NY’s 21st Congressional District. Spectrum News has historically hosted debates with federal and state candidates for both primaries and general elections.

August 12: Fall debate schedule announced all three debates having been agreed to by both campaigns.

August 18: Tedra Cobb cowardly backs out of and cancels the previously agreed to debate with Spectrum News. The Cobb campaign attacks and accuses Spectrum News of bias.

August 19-present: Spectrum News continues to press Cobb to reconsider backing out of their debate and participate in the most watched debate that happens every cycle.

“Taxin’ Tedra Cobb’s decision to cowardly cancel the Spectrum News debate — which is the most watched debate and the only debate televised district wide — is unacceptable and a disgrace,” said Stefanik spokeswoman Maddie Anderson. “Voters deserve to see both candidates publicly debate on issues important to the North Country, and it’s unfortunate and offensive that Tedra Cobb is depriving them of the opportunity to see the clear choice in this race. Both candidates committed to this debate, Taxin’ Tedra Cobb backed out and accused Spectrum News of media bias, and the media is letting her get away with it. The Stefanik campaign continues to urge Tedra Cobb to have the guts to stand in front of the largest viewership of voters in the district. Candidates all across the state are participating in debates hosted by Spectrum News, and Taxin’ Tedra Cobb continues to earn her notoriety as the worst Democratic candidate in America. Backing out of this important debate is yet another clear example of Taxin’ Tedra Cobb working overtime to hide her positions from voters, such as: who she would vote for as Speaker of the House, why she ran on Medicare for All for two years before frantically deleting the position off her website, and why she is anti-Second Amendment and supports banning guns from law-abiding North Country citizens.”
