WILMINGTON — The town of Wilmington has been awarded $123,112 from the Northern Border Regional Commission to purchase property for a decentralized wastewater treatment system.
Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, announced the funding as part of more than $2.5 million the lawmaker helped secure for projects in Clinton, Essex, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Warren and Washington counties.
Local officials hope the purchase of property in Wilmington and the construction of a decentralized wastewater system will bolster economic development, attract new business, promote commercial expansion and prevent existing businesses from closing due to private septic system failures.
“This is a big win for the revitalization of our region, and I’m proud to have led the charge to secure these funds for my constituents,” Stefanik said in a statement.
