Elise M. Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, participated in two roll call votes this week.
She also co-led two bills to support Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math education. According to a news release from her office, the two bipartisan bills, Building STEAM Education Act and STEM to STEAM Act of 2019, propose increased federal grants and changes to federal advisory panels.
“Modern education has taken great strides in incorporating artistic expression and design into STEM,” Ms. Stefanik said in the release. “In order to create new solutions for complex problems, our students must be equipped to think in a creative and innovative fashion. Our North Country economy, and our 21st century economy as a whole, will continue to benefit significantly from STEAM education in schools.”
The House is debating a series of appropriation acts for federal agencies, and has held a number of votes on amendments to these bills. The following votes include only roll-call votes, as other kinds of votes — such as voice votes — are not recorded. Procedural votes are not included, nor are amendments.
Ms. Stefanik voted for a motion to suspend the rules and pass, as amended, the Empowering Beneficiaries, Ensuring Access and Strengthening Accountability Act. It passed, 371-46.
She voted against a bill making appropriations for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2020, and for other purposes. It passed, 226-203.
