To the Editor:

Fort Drum is a strategic asset to our nation and an economic benefit to the north country community. With a new missile defense site proposed at Fort Drum, more than 1,000 high-quality jobs and a more than $2 million boost to our economy are up for grabs in the halls and offices of Washington D.C.

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik is navigating the system and fighting hard to bring this economic driver to Jefferson County and to secure our citizens and soldiers from foreign threats.

Fort Drum is the single-largest site employer in the 21st Congressional District and home to the U.S. Army’s most deployed combat unit. Our congresswoman has worked hard in her tenure to protect its resources and develop the base. A missile defense site on the base would bring long-term economic growth and new residents to the area.
