Does Mike Derrick Agree with Obama Administration’s Political Threat to Veto Defense Bill Supporting Fort Drum Troops?

Glens Falls, NY: Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s campaign today issued the following statement regarding published reports on the Obama administration’s partisan, political memo detailing its political strategy to veto the national defense bill, which includes a pay raise for our troops, and vital support for military service members serving at Fort Drum:

“The Obama administration should stop playing partisan politics at the Pentagon. The most important issue for any Presidential Administration is the national defense of our nation, and of the military service men and women who defend us.”

“Today’s report of an Obama Administration memo detailing its partisan threat to veto the national defense bill shows complete disregard for the history of bipartisan cooperation to enact legislation so vital to the safety and support of every military service member, including all those serving our Fort Drum Community.”

“Congresswoman Stefanik will proudly continue working alongside Democratic colleagues to develop and enact strong, bipartisan national defense legislation that puts our military men and women before politics. Her Democratic opponent supported last year’s Obama Administration veto of this vital legislation, even after admitting he didn’t even read the bill.”

“Will Mike Derrick once again put the Obama Administration’s politics before our national security and supporting our troops?”
